PL marshmallow is a sugar-based confection that consists of sugar, water and gelatin whipped to a thick and sticky consistency molded into small manageable pieces, and coated with powdered sugar. Flavours and toppings may be added for an extra special touch!
PL marshmallows are made by making a hot syrup of sugar, water and low-fructose corn syrup to a certain temperature (sorry part of the secret recipe) and then whipped up in the stand mixer of already set gelatin. When the liquid becomes white and puffy, it is time to add flavour. The mixture is then poured into a prepared pan and sets overnight before the cutting and dusting. There is actually no baking involved!
PL currently does not carry any vegan marshmallows but keep in touch as I may come up with a recipe I’m happy with soon!
PL marshmallows are made with animal gelatin, a mixture of pork and beef to achieve the perfect consistency so unfortunately, they are not suitable for vegans. I’m so sorry!
PL marshmallows last about 3-4 if kept in an airtight container in room temperature but the sooner enjoyed, the puffier they are!
They sure are! Not only that, but they are dairy free. Yay!
